Welcome to our website. Pixie Rabbit & Rodent Rescue is an independently run small animal rescue based in Ashington, North East of England. We started opening our doors to unwanted pets in 2010.

This rescue re-homes: Rabbits, Rats, Mice, Hamsters, Degus, Multimammates, Gerbils, & Chipmunks.

The rescue is split into two sections. Rabbits and Rodents and is organised by three volunteers, Rachael & Kevin who run the rabbits and Ebony who runs the rodents. 

We also have a large network of foster parents for the troubled animals who need extra special tender love & care. As well as some fantastic volunteers who do things such as home checks, fundraisers and animal taxi's.   

About Us.. Rabbits 

The rescue originated in the back yard of a young couple, Rachael & Kevin, in 2010. Five rabbits were dropped off at our back gates, Snowy, Harley, Lulu (Kira) Honey & Tylor. Our hearts sank at the condition they arrived in. All animals were health checked, Snowy, Lulu (Kira) and Tylor were netuered and bonded with other rabbits in new homes. Honey had four babies shortly after arriving and went to live with her four daughters. And Harley stayed with us for a while, though he had a spinal injury and became paralyzed. We fought with him to the end, but he did not recover from the anesthesia. Harley taught us to fight with an animal no matter the cost, to be patient and always look on the bright side. 

After helping these five bunnies we couldn't resist opening our home to other animals in need, eventually a friend talked to us about setting up a rescue and doing everything officially. Since then we've rescued Rabbits, Guinea Pigs, Hamsters, Mice, Rats as well as some more exotic animals such as, multimammates, turtles, fish etc. 

With over six years of rabbit experience and research Rachael & Kevin devote their time to the rabbit side of the rescue. They've just recently had a baby boy, so needed to find space for the rodent side of things, this is when Ebony stepped in.

About Us.... Rodents 

Ebony had been rescuing and re-homing rodents for over four years when after a conversation with Rachael decided to help out and become partners to form Pixie Rabbit & Rodent Rescue. Ebony spends most of her spare time in the rescue room gaining experience with a wide variety of rodents, from Rats to Multimammates. Always researching and gaining as much experience as possible to help the animals under her care. 

She has been a complete help and a fresh face for the rescue. She has devoted a room in her home for the rodents here.
